July 30, 2008 -Jim has just added a new show on September 17 at Cucina de Pesce. Check the Concerts link for full details.

A New Song and New Friends

July 26, 2008 -Great show by Jim tonight at the Towne Crier and he introduced a new song. The working title for now is "Falling Hard for You" and the song is a pretty hard rocker as Dawson songs go. The crowd loved it.

A great part of this night was not only Jim and Steven but also, the other half of the music on this double bill. Jim, Steven and all of us there just loved the music of Sam Lardner and his group Barcelona. Sam is a singer/songwriter who moved from Nashville to Barcelona, Spain about 12 years ago and his music now is influenced by the Spanish music all around him. Great songs, a great tenor voice, two superb flamenco guitarists and just a incredible sound. And the admiration was mutual. Sam and the guys loved Jim and Steven. Check out Sam's website at www.samlardner.com and check out his new CD "Barcelona" on iTunes or Amazon. Great music for a summer day.

Let's Pretend - a rare find!

July 23, 2008 -We are very happy to have found a rare promo copy of Jim's last single for Kama Sutra that was never released. This is the first recording Jim made with producers Terry Cashman and Tommy West. It has been "missing" for 35 years but now you can hear this great Jim Dawson song. Make sure you have QuickTime loaded on your computer and then check out the "Let's Pretend" link in the "Discography" section. Enjoy.

Happy Birthday JD!

June 27, 2008 - Jim celebrates his birthday today. The Annual Birthday Bash has been rescheduled for July 16. Check out the "Concerts" link for the latest info.

JD wows the Metropolitan Room

June 16, 2008 - Jim played the Metropolitan Room for the first time on June 14 to a packed house. The show was great with Seth and Steven giving the full band treatment. The owner of the club told Jim afterwards that he had never heard of Jim before the show but now considered him the best singer/songwriter performing today. Always great to make a new fan. Jim will be back at the Metropolitan Room in the near future.

New Songs at the Turning Point

May 18, 2008 - Jim introduced three new songs at the Turning Point show today. "On the Top of the Town" "One More Time" and "A Little More Time with You". All of the songs were well received and will hopefully be on a new CD in the near future. "On the Top of the Town" was inspired by Tim Howe's recent wedding and deserves a full band arrangment in the recording studio.

Jim performs at the John Stewart Tribute Concert

April 12, 2008 - Jim joined a group of artists including Rosanne Cash, The Kennedys, Buffy Ford Stewart, and the John Stewart Band to pay tribute to the legendary singer/songwriter, John Stewart in a tribute show at the Towne Crier in Pawling, NY. The sold out crowd was treated to a night of incredible music and memories. Jim sang two of John's songs - "Keeper of the Flame" and "Broken Roses, Weathered Dreams" - backed by Steven Donaghey and the John Stewart band. His performance was one of the highlights of the evening. You can read about John Stewart's influence on Jim and his thoughts about the tribute in this months "Songman's Notes"

Jim is adding summer shows and house concerts

Check out the "Concerts" link for the latest JD shows. We are adding new shows all the time.

Jim is also now booking "house concerts" for the summer. If you would like the Songman to perform a special concert at your house, just contact Debbi to set it up.

Voice Building with Jim

One of the things we always hear at Jim's live shows is fans telling us that Jim's voice sounds better today than it did on the records 30 years ago. The truth is that Jim's voice is great and it's no accident. Jim studied with The Master Voice Builder, Leon Kurzer. Jim now teaches that same "voice building" technique.
